Plumbing Maintenance Checklist

Keeping the plumbing system in functioning order is the only way to prolong the life of your plumbing fixtures and avoid expensive plumbing repairs. The following checklist should be carried out twice a year to maintain the good order of your home plumbing and nip in the bud any potential plumbing complication. 5. Flush each toilet and check for proper flushing. Open the tank and check for rusty or broken parts. Check that water does not continue to run after flushing and make sure there is no sign of water pooling around the base of the toilet.

6. Check for mildew in moist areas of the home such as bathrooms or basements.

7. Look for loose or cracked tiles in bathrooms or near water pipes. Fractured or slack tiles are caused by old or active water leaks that rot the surface behind the tile.
