Propane Heating Systems
When it comes to propane heating systems, there is huge debate weather they are more efficient than energy based heating systems and natural gas heating systems. Some individuals are supporting propane based heating systems while others try to prove they are not that good. The fact is the truth is somewhere in the middle and as with any heating system, efficiency is based on different aspects that need to be understood before a proper analysis is made.
There are of course a number of advantages for using propane heating systems. First of all you will notice that equipment has a longer life. A propane powered furnace usually lasts in perfect working condition for around 15 to 20 years. This is actually 5 to 10 years more than a regular electric heat pump. Secondly, the mentioned propane furnaces will offer warmer air. They can operate in short intervals and this fact alone can minimize operating costs. This is in fact the third biggest advantage: low costs. The money spent for maintenance and working a propane heating system is lower than most substitutes available.
The biggest disadvantage of propane heating systems stands in one of its advantages mentioned above: money. The actual fuel used is around 50 percent more expensive than natural gas in most areas of the world. Although this can raise costs to a higher amount than other heating systems, there is something that few people know is possible. What you need to do is install a large propane tank somewhere and have it filled about early July. That is when prices are low and all is affordable. If you wait until September you will see price rising and during winter propane gas is a lot more expensive.
If you decide a propane heating system is suited for your needs, you should know something about propane-fueled central furnaces. The most used type of heating system around is the forced air furnace. Such devices powered by propane are almost always used in a propane heating system. There are three main types of designs used when manufacturing them. First we have the upflow furnace. It basically has blowers at the lower part of the furnace that draws air into it. Heated air is then released through the top. Secondly we can see counterflow furnaces, units that work in an opposite way when compared with upflow furnaces. The last type of design is the horizontal furnace. Air is drawn in through one said and heated air is blown out through the other side.
The truth is that propane heating systems can be very cost efficient or not based on your geographical location. It is always best to consult a specialist and see exactly all the prices before implementing such a network. Nobody would want to lose money.
