Radiant Heating Systems
Radiant heating systems have been used at the beginnings by Romans in 60 AD, just like under floor heating. Such a concept will control the rate at which any body loses heat by transforming different surfaces (ceilings, walls, floors) into low temperature radiators. By applying this method you basically end up getting a heating system that is economical and efficient while surrounding the environment with warm coming from an entire surface instead of just a point.
When compared with regular air heating, radiant heating systems have some advantages that could be important to regular users. First of all it does not stir up dust or allergens. Heat loss is also reduced and keep in mind that forced air heating actually takes air from the room and puts it back in at a higher temperature. This creates pressure problems by drawing warm air through different possible openings like small cracks in the windows or walls. A space that is heated by a radiant heating system will not have such a problem because air and heat stays inside. The reason for this fact is lack of that drawing pressure associated with forced air heating systems.
Most individuals out there faced the problem of warm air going out of the room when you open your door. With radiant heating systems you must not think about this anymore because you will see that heat is recovered quite quickly. Another important aspect is that you will see your whole body and objects surrounding you getting warmer, not just the air in the room. Comfort is thus a lot higher and general body well being is improved during cold outside days.
The only disadvantage that is clearly visible with radiant heating systems stands exactly in the fact that it is just a heating system, nothing more. It can not clean the air or cool your home and if you need in a region that needs cooling, you will have no use for such a system. The only similar alternative stands in using a special radiant heating system that uses water warmed by a heat pump. Such a device can also provide cooling during those hot days.
More than anything a radiant heating system is comfortable and does create a perfect room heating sensation. No matter if you chose an electric or hydronic system, the result will still be as good. The only thing that needs to be thought out is weather you will need a dry or wet installation but this can be decided easily by consulting a specialist. You will surely meet one when you decide to implement the system.
