Pumps

Pumps are pieces of equipment that are used to move liquid or sewage. The pump moved the liquid from lower pressure to high pressure by adding energy to the system. You may be don't realize how many different types of pumps there are. There are sewage pumps, water pumps, centrifugal pumps, heat pumps, boiler feed pumps, gas compressors, condensate, condenser, circulatory pump, submersible pumps and vacuum pumps and that is to name a few.

You may not realize that you need pumps every day in life, pumps make the toilets flush, they feed your boiler, they remove water when your basement floods from a lot of rain, there are so many functions of pumps that we can't list them all.

Let's say you have a basement and it is full of water and you need to pump out the water. You have to go and purchase a submersible pump. You place this pump in the water and attach a hose by turning the pump on the water goes through the pump and out of the hose so you can drain the water from a basement or pool cover.

Pumps were used to decrease the water levels after Hurricane Katrina, they were huge pumps located underground and within a few days the water had receded. If New Orleans had not used pumps they would still be underwater.

In situations like that pumps are very important to us. We take pumps for granted because when we do our day to activity we don't think of pumps. For example, when you flush the toilet and the water goes down and takes the sewage from the toilet, it is a pump that does the job and when the pump fails the toilet won't flush.

There are many different brands of pumps as well, each pump company has its own purpose and they may have pumps better than the next company. These are some of the most popular pump companies, Little Giant, Federal, Allied, ABS, Taco and Bell and Gossett. There are literally hundreds of different pump companies. If you are having a problem with your pump, we can help, we have any information you may need to repair your pump and understand how it works.

Centrifugal Pumps
A centrifugal pump is known as a rotodynamic pump that actually uses a rotating impeller to increase the pressure of the fluid. These types of pumps are commonly used to move liquid through a piping system. These fluids enter the pump impeller and near the rotating axis and it is further sped up by the impeller. The fluid floes outward into a diffuser or a volute chamber and there it exits into the down steam piping system. More...
